First Federal Bank understands that the security of your personal and account information is important to you. We also understand that our continued success as a financial institution relies on both our ability to offer banking services to you in a secure manner as well as your responsibility in keeping any access codes, passwords or PINs secure. To assist us in offering these Web-based banking services in a secure manner, we employ a number of measures. These measures allow us, among other benefits, to properly authenticate your identity when you access these services and protect information as it traverses the Internet between your PC and First Federal Bank.

When sending any banking information online this site automatically switches to a secure mode. This is evident by the “https” that will appear in the url as opposed to “http”.

Log in protection – Every end user must privately maintain a combination of a password and log-in ID. Because the end user is assigned the original password by the Bank administrator, the system requires the end user to change the password on the first log in onto the system. This requires the end user to establish a private password. If a password is lost or stolen, the administrator will be able to reset the password to a default password once the identity is established for the end user.

PIN “lockout” system – to maintain the integrity of an end users account, a PIN lockout system has been instituted. If a PIN is entered incorrectly three (3) times, the end user is “locked out” of the system. The end user will need to call First Federal Bank to have the Internet banking account unlocked. The PIN will be reset to a default password when an account is unlocked.

Pseudo account names – For security reasons your account number is not shown on your computer screen. Each account is given a pseudo name (i.e. checking, vacation fund, home) for protection of your account information.

Encryption – The latest encryption technology ensures that your confidential account information cannot be accessed by another party. Encryption is a way to rewrite something in a code, which can be decoded later with the right “key”. When you request information about your accounts, the information is sent across the web in an encrypted format. We decode your request and send the send the requested information back to you in an encrypted format. When the information reaches you, it is decoded so that you, and no one else, can read the information. This is possible through a certified 128-bit secure server so that no unauthorized individuals can read or decipher the information.

Other Security measures – In addition to the above safeguards, our server does not connect directly to the Internet. It is isolated from the network via a “firewall”. All requests to the server are filtered through a router and firewall before they are permitted access to the server

How you can protect your information

  • If you notice unusual activity or question and transactions on your account please call (505) 622-6201 during regular business hours.
